The machine doesn't seem to have an audio-in port and I want to plug my guitar and use garage band.

What do I need to do?

What version of PB is it? Amost all Ti and Aluminum PBs have audio ins. You can run your guitar in to a mixer and then use a 1/4 inch to mini (or 1/8?) cable running in to your laptop.

However, a better solution is to use a firewire or USB i/o.

Post with your exact needs and the model you have and I am sure people will have suggestions.

It should have an minijack audio line in (all the other Al PowerBooks do)...you'll most likely need to get a 1/4" to minijack converter if you want to plug in a guitar. I think Monster do one specifically marketed for use with Garageband.

I'm sure you could pick the same thing up from radio shack for much cheaper. But if you must have the best possible quality, go with the monster version.

find a local wire or a/v specialist, maybe a musical insterment store like GC or even walmart, dont pay more than 2-5$ depending on where you live.

The jack is on the left side of your PB, right after the headphone jack, next to the PC card slot.
