Hey folks -
I'm looking for a decent 100BT NIC for my G5. Any suggestions as to where to look? Apple has GigE NICs available for $100, but I'm hoping to find something quite a bit cheaper. That and I don't need GigE; FastE is more than adequate.
Suggestions?
Thanks!

I want to hook up a private connection between my Mac and a Linux box I use a lot. The Linux box already has the 2nd NIC in it.

You see most major brands make their cards compatable. Like the like above.
This card uses a very common chip (hell under linux it uses the tulip driver, the whore that it is.) so driver support is very good.
SmallDog caries them, but then again so does most average computer stores and for around $10. (I just bought two for a linux box at $10CDN each)
Hey, you said the magic word!
Sorry, now I am interested...
Which distro do you use?

Thanks for the pointer. Dumb question I guess: will just about any PCI-based NIC work in the Mac? I'm new to the Mac world and haven't purchased any internal peripherals for mine yet. So I'm not exactly sure what's compatible and what isn't.

A couple of my machines are still running RedHat 9. The rest are running Fedora Core 1.

Good luck with the network thing...
RedHat, Fedora... oh. I personally don't like RedHat based distros, but they are easy to admin and configure. I use Slackware Linux on my PC, it's been my main OS for quite a bit of time now and I love it. My computer has been Windows free for almost half a year. I have worked with Knoppix (cluster Knoppix to be exact) a bunch, but I would never use it as my main OS. YDL was the only RedHat based distro that I liked. It ran on one of my iMacs untill the iMac died. I also gave Yopper a try, but it did not work the way I expected.
