...plus whatever other bad fruit/music puns those awful tech headlines are stuffed with this morning. I can almost identify with the "sings" one, though - my stocks are sounding downright angelic today.

AAPL closed on Thursday at about 29.30 (a 52 week high), about a 9% gain. During the day it peaked at 29.58. A very good run. Tomorrow, however, should see some profiteering so look for the stock to close the week closer to just below 29. Nevertheless, Wall Street has made the stock its darling for the moment. With new product upgrades on the near-horizon and possibly brand new unknown (rumors aside) product in the pipeline, this could be a great 2nd half of the year for Cupertino.

52 week high...that's nothing. What's nice is that AAPL is higher than it's been in almost 3 and 1/2 years since about the second quarter.

Sure, it ain't 67.50 but someday again I hope

Wish all days were like today.

I don't know the physics of the stock market, like most people, but rest assured that Microsoft is still worth waaaaaaaaaay more than Apple, in terms of money, anyways.

    Oh, it gets better.

Here are some comparison charts, based on Apple vs. Microsoft, and how your $ would have done if you'd put an equal amount into both 5 years ago:

Not bad. And 2 years ago:

    Still not too shabby.

But the real gem? One year ago:

That's right, if you'd put an equal amount into MS and Apple, your MS stock would be flat, and your Apple stock would be worth about 120% more.

Glad I own a chunk o' the fruit company.

Always good to sell AFTER the stock has been rising for a while...that way you can make minimal gains while hoping it doesn't dip back down

I sold my $15 shares when it hit $28, but still own some shares at $19. Hopefully it keeps rising, and although I wish I wouldn't have sold, I don't feel bad about it, i made 186% profit, so can you really complain THAT much? I mean, people easily could have made more then that, if they bought when it was even lower, and that return on a single stock is amazing. Wish I just had more to invest originally.

go ahead and do it. think long term: portable updates coming, iPod minis will get out the door eventually, new iPod's will come out sometime, and eventually new iMacs and PMacs. now, with portables already selling so weel, these new updates are gonna be an even bigger hit. think about the NEXT earnings call. if AAPL isn't above $35 at the end of summer, i think i'll cry.
