Your experience with bootleg DVD's from Asia.

A couple of buddies of mine swear by them. They go to the local Chinatown and pick up 3 DVD for $20. And these are recent flicks like Kill Bill v.1, Lost in Translation, etc..

They say the quality is just as good and they even have all the added bonus features included.

Anyone else here purchase bootleg DVD's?

Is the quality the same from your experience?

Are these produced from a similar source/process as the movie studios in the U.S.?

I got a couple VCD's but the quality made me laugh. Especially for the movies that never existed. I just had to buy Toy Story 3 for $3.00

I don't have a lot of respect for all of Hollywood's financial dealings, but that still doesn't excuse pirated material like this, regardless of the quality. Don't buy pirated DVDs.

They're not necessarily pirated, just priced (and encoded) for a different market and a different economy.
