Upgrade Suggestions

Hi Everyone. I love this board.



I was hoping that some of you could give me some suggestions for upgrading my current system. I'm a student, so my budget is limited. Thanks!



Powermac G4 400, RagePro AGP, 256Mb Ram, 9GB hard drive.



I want a performance boost in games and in terms of general system performance. thanks!

    Pick up a nicer graphics card...



    The Radeon 8500 would be nice, but would be bottlenecked by your CPU. You also might try flashing a PC GF2MX and putting that in...some have done that with varying success. Worth a try considering a GF2MX will only cost about $60 compared to the $150+ Radeon 32MB DDRs...



    The G4 400 came stock with a 10 or 20GB 5400RPM drive (actually, the 20GB *might* have been 7200RPM but I don't think so), but I dunno about the 9GB you have. The addition of a 40GB or so 7200RPM drive would give you a good boost in disk performance for ~$80.

    Thanks for the info. I can grab an OEM GeForce 2MX from Ebay, but will I be able to use my 17" Apple Studio Display (CRT-ADC conenctor) with it?



    Gotcha on the hard-drive the 9gig is SLOW in X.
