iMic like devices ?

in Current Mac Hardware edited January 2014
was wondering if there were any devices out there like the iMic that provides audio inputs with 1/4" jacks instead of 1/8"........

is there one using firewire? [maybe that extra headroom will do good]

Try the MOTU 828, that's short for Mark of the Unicorn. I believe the site is <a href=""; target="_blank"></a>

There's another model, 896 I think, and that's higher end than the 828.

FireWire audio input devics are pro-level and accordingly expensive. The extra bandwidth isn't needed for stereo 16-bit 44Khz audio unless you're using a scanner or printer at the same time. Solution: Don't do that. Adapters from 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch are $5 at Radio Shack.
