Getting a somewhat new G5
Hi Folks,
I haven't posted on this board in a really long time.
Anyway, my trusty eMac has gotten too long in the tooth for me to put up with anymore, so I decided to purchase a Refurbished Power Mac Dual 1.8 Ghz machine from the Apple Store today.
The price was decent, $1,999.00 for the machine and shipping was free. I believe I got a good deal on it. (Ok, I hope I got a good deal on it).
For the current G5 owners out there: What can you tell me about the real world Performance of these machines? I do a fair amount of Web Authoring with Dreamweaver MX, some Photoshop work, and of course all the normal computing tasks: Working within MS Office, web surfing, e-mail, and light gaming.
For what I plan to do with this machine how do you think it stacks up to my current 700 mHz G4 eMac?
All your comments are welcome, good or bad.
And finally what should I do with my old eMac once I get the new machine set up? I had thought about setting it up as a Web Station in my home for my wife to use as she pleases. Any other ideas? I like playing with computer hardware, so if anyone has any ideas for modding a first generation eMac I'd love to hear about it.
Sorry for the legnth of this post, and thanks for taking the time to read it.
