my iBook can't sleep

in Current Mac Hardware edited January 2014
i set the screen saver to start in 10min, and the energy saving (sleep) to start in 20min.

it worked fine, but recently i noticed that it doesn't go to sleep after 20min. the screen will go blank (no more screen saver), but the sleeping light is not turned on. also touching the mouse pad will bring it back, thus it's actually in a screen saver mode, not sleep mode, right?

it will still go to sleep if i click the command or close the lid though.

what to do???

Do you have the newest version of OS X? 10.1.5?

Have you tried a warm glass of milk?

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

You should probably post this type of thing in the Genius Bar though.

Try changing around the sleep and display settings. See if putting the display and sleep settings to the same time fix the problem. Not sure what it would be, as it's still going to sleep. I wonder if it's in some other kind of sleep mode though.
