how do you find out the speed of your hard drive?

When i shipped my iBook back to apple because my hard drive failed, they accidently replaced it with a 40GB hard drive, instead of a 20GB. Anyway, I was wondering if the speed of the hard drive was 4200RPM or 5400RPM. I doubt it's 5400RPM, but I thought it would be cool to know for sure.

Btw, I have told apple care of their mistake and they told me to just keep it.

    It's a 4200. New iBooks don't even come with 5400s.

As far as actually checking the speed, I'm not sure. I looked around to try and find the speed of my drive (I know it's a 7200rpm), but I couldn't actually find it anywhere.

Go into system porfile. Hardware - ATA. Top section will tell you what devices you have. Bottom section gives info on what you high light in the top section. For my PB I have a TOSHIBA MK6021GAS. Copy your model, google and pick any site to get your info.

    1) Get into your car with your iBook.

    2) Race up and down your local streets at high speed, preferably making lots of tire squealing noise, until pulled over by a cop.

    3) Ask the cop how fast you (and your drive) were going.

well the 120 internal was all I used to have, for video work etc, but then for my major I was required to get an external FW drive, at least 80 gigs... School recommended a 120 though, for 200 bucks.

I found a LaCie one with student discount that was 160 gb for 50 bucks less than the 120 gb school wanted me to buy... So i mean, i think out of my 280, i have 100 or 120 free...
