Stretch?s S5000 software-configurable processors combine the best of both worlds?the ease of software development associated with GPPs and DSPs, with the parallelism and flexibility of FPGAs. Stretch achieves this unique combination by embedding programmable logic entirely inside the processor architecture?an industry first.

The firm claims that a singe S5000 can replace a bank of DSPs or general purpose processors
Sounds like a nice processor. I wonder if Apple has an eye on these guys.

Stop wondering, not going to happen, their is no compelling reason for this to happen.
The price of the chips are decent and according to the benchmark this chip can produce good speed targeted in certain areas. It runs at a low megahertz also...perhaps it runs cooly.
