New Spam Phenomenon (?) Crashing Entourage

I've started having occasional problems with Microsoft Entourage crashing while downloading email and was worried about the app so I rebuilt my database several times trying to "fix" it. THEN I remembered to log into my email via my ISP's webmail interface and I began deleting obvious spam. This of course solved the problem and subsequent research showed that they even had instructions buried in their sites docs to explain how to telnet into the mail server and remove any offensive email that was hanging the system.

Today I had the same problem and I logged in to delete items. While I was trying to mark some addresses as spam (via the webmail interface) a warning began appearing that "some addresses" could not be marked as spam because they had addresses that were OVER the 250 character limit for valid email addresses.

I'll be googling for more info about this phenomenon after I complete this post, but I wanted to know if anyone else has first hand info that you might impart to us about this kind of email. I mean, are they doing it intentionally to crash people's email apps or is it just stupid spamming (as if there were such a thing as "smart" spamming).
