connect to server ( to other mac) question

Once in a while i connect my two macs (imac g3/350 and pb12"/1gig, both running 10.3.2). But they almost never find them self in the finder, when i "go to server" and push "search". When i've pushed "search", a finder window pops up as expected, but then having pushed "connect" answers with "couldn't find original server, try again". The server icon disappears, and appears a split second later. Weird.

What works: i "go to server", manually type in "afp://bla-bla.local/", hit "connect", and bingo. My two macs find them self without a hitch.

Any hints?

might be your router or switch...try a different one, or try plugging them back to back (with Firewire over IP or with an ethernet cable)

You could also try pinging nameofonecomputer.local from the other computer to see if your switch/router/whatever is passing mDNS(rendezvous).

I had simliar problems ... they went away when I started using 10.3.3

Maybe that's one of the bugs they fixed ?
