Final Cut Pro 3: All audio work requires re-render
I just started editing something in FCP...and I noticed that every time I mess with the audio, it requires a re-render (about 20 minutes on my slow-ass machine).
This has never happened to me before. I've got some audio that's 48Khz 16-bit stereo, the editing presets are identical to that, there should be no need for rendering, yet I get the red line every time. I've checked the prefs and I have real-time audio mixing up to 8 tracks selected...yet there's only 2 tracks in my project and I'm only trying to mess with one at a time. What am I doing wrong?

I'll give it a try, thanks...the puzzling thing though is that I don't have any effects at all! Just places where it gets louder and quieter. I swear I've done these kind of adjustments in FCP hundreds of times and I've never had to re-render...
It's bummin' me out!
