[quote] iMac price reductions may be in sight as some Apple stores reportedly prepare new promotional material. One reader writes that an Apple retail outlet Saturday was preparing "Refresh." pricing tags that included old ($1399) and new ($1249) prices.

So says MacNN. I wonder if component prices have gone down, or sales department desperation has gone up.

And what, exactly, is "Refresh"?

    Hmm.

    I wonder if this is a hint of a product refresh . . .

Or if Apple simply is trying to get those units moving again!

Bring the price of the 800 down to 1,500 and I'll be game.

Just to note, if this is true, then prices are going down $150.

(Of course, they first went up $100, so.....)

I just got back from Japan and noticed that prices of iMacs went down 20,000 yen (about $170) a couple of weeks ago. The prices of Powermacs also were reduced. The yen has gotten about 10% stronger in the last few months so that could account for the lower prices, but the Tibook and iBook prices did not go down.
