Just stumbled over this really really cool application. It's called CosmicPainter (Download) and is primary a painting app.

But there's a catch. The canvas rotates. Yep. You can make the coolest paintings you never thought they'd be possible.

Example:

And now imagine this rotating at high speed.

Oh, and before I forget to tell you: It's addictive. Be safe!

Ugh! I found this one a couple of days ago too. Time Waster of the Month!

But how do you get it so symmetrical. Mine are always a bit wonky. Mind you I've only tried it out using the trackpad; maybe a mouse gives better control. I want to make those perfect Spirograph ones too but I just can't seem to get the hang of it.

It is both fun and a potentially colosal waste of time... I like it.

I have a mouse, that may be a big factor. Also, try to play with the rotation speed. If you get it correct, you can just slowly come near the center, and it will make the best pictures!

OK I'll try it with a mouse later. Are you saying slow rotation speed or move the mouse slowly. I seem to get better symmetry with fast rotation.

Slowly move the mouse. And hey, maybe you can show us what you all did. Just use Imageshack for hosting, and post a small image here. So we can see what y'all have done with it.
