I just got this today.

What should I do with it?

Anyone know the specs?

What does it run?

Is that a Network Server 700? I can't quite make it out from your picture.

If it is then it won't run any Mac OS. It'll run IBM AIX 4.1.4.

I've also got an old PowerMac 6400 do you know if I can put any of its parts into this network server?

Like Jambo said it's a Network Server. For specifications check out apple-history.com or The Apple Museum

You might be able to run Gentoo on that thing.

Network Servers are officially supported by YDL, Yellow Dog Linux.

My advice: Turn it into a fridge. It would be super cool to open up the front of that and get beers out of it.

If you've got hard-drives for it, I'd set it up as a backup server. If not, the fridge idea sounds as good as anything else. You might want to hold onto it though. I used to know some computer nerds who collected odd hardware.

Damn rights!! Have it up on a shelf near your computer setup. The look on your friend's faces as you go over and grab a cold beer would be priceless.

    DO IT.

if you will turn it to a fridge, send me a pm. a friend of mine is building his own mac system (old old macs) and he might like to have the guts of that thing if you won't need them.
