External FIrewire Harddrive formatting issues...

Is it possible to put partitions on an external firewire drive, and say one of those partitions a mac partition and the other FAT32? that whay I could use both my windows machine and my powerbook?

    I tried to partition my external with FAT32/HFS+, but it wouldn't let me. You can check what's allowed by trying it out in Disk Utility.

    Another option is to use MacDrive, which allows PC's to read mac's.



    I thout about it as well, but the hassle involved was too much. I think if you look on MacOSX Hints they have a thread about it, but it involved a lot of command line stuff that was well above my level of expertise.
