I was going to have a friend buy a 12" powerbook because he is a student. However if I just go to the Apple store online I myself can buy a powerbook at education pricing? How does this work? If I bought it at education pricing will the Apple education police storm my house?

[tried to delete and move to general discssion, but no permission. Mods, can you please move for me]

thanks

You need a student id number and have to specify where you are and what school you go to before you can do anything with the education discount.

Kickaha and Amorph couldn't moderate themselves out of a paper bag. Abdicate responsibility and succumb to idiocy. Two years of letting a member make personal attacks against others, then stepping aside when someone won't put up with it. Not only that but go ahead and shut down my posting priviledges but not the one making the attacks. Not even the common decency to abide by their warning (afer three days of absorbing personal attacks with no mods in sight), just shut my posting down and then say it might happen later if a certian line is crossed. Bullshit flag is flying, I won't abide by lying and coddling of liars who go off-site, create accounts differing in a single letter from my handle with the express purpose to decieve and then claim here that I did it. Everyone be warned, kim kap sol is a lying, deceitful poster.

Now I guess they should have banned me rather than just shut off posting priviledges, because kickaha and Amorph definitely aren't going to like being called to task when they thought they had it all ignored *cough* *cough* I mean under control. Just a couple o' tools.

Don't worry, as soon as my work resetting my posts is done I'll disappear forever.

Crazy, I didnt even think about that. Makes you wonder what the point of having to go through all of those steps if you dont need to tell them any informaiton that they can track so that people dont take advantage of the discount. Who knows, maybe they just dont give you the discount. Has anyone tried to use the educational discount without giving an id number?

I've bought several computers from the Apple Education online site over the years, including my 3 week old 15" 1.5 ghz Powerbook. I have NEVER had to give an ID number to do the purchasing.

When I bought my iBook from the Apple Store UK Education site a couple of weeks ago, I called them to enquire what documents and/or payroll/ID numbers I needed to provide to prove my status. Their exact words were, 'None, we take our customers word on trust of their status when ordering for themselves.'

Certainly raised my eyebrow, though I'm not complaining!8)

Long time ago when I bought my Lime iMac I had to fax a copy of my student ID to Apple.
