Macs are more stable, less to have to deal with, more reliable. and since I dont have pc at home, I told all my pc using friends to stop calling me at all hours of day and night to fix their issues as well.
(some of them have macs now, and have 0 problmes and rarely ever have to ask anything)

My reason is very similar. I got sick of being "guru" to all my computer using friends, relatives and whoever else thought I could solve all their computer related woes. Having the Mac is a great "out" for me and I help only when I feel motivated to now.
Honestly though my macs never give me grief and I enjoy them a whole lot more.
comparing price to hardware, you get a better deal from apple laptops. once i bought one for myself, i realized that the OS is just much easier to deal with--i'm a comp tech at CMU, the nation's number 1 computer science school. all my CS friends have powerbooks too, so... yeah.
I was in the market fora new PC, when I saw a demonstration of the NEW iMac with iMovie v.1 and how you could edit footage on your computer... I Was Sold! And I have never looked back.
grew up on a Mac, switched to PC b/c of game variety. switched back to Mac b/c i bought an xbox (how ironic) so no need to play games on a computer and b/c of my job at school of helping people with their POS thinkpads started annoying the crap out of me.
I like thinking different I fell in love with the powerbook when I saw how small it was. I also like to argue and the mac is a great playing field for feuds against mac vs pc
When I pay money for a computer I want it to look better than my trashcan
I want a computer than can do everything I want it to
I dislike PC people. (The typical "I'm a gamer, Macs suck because theyre slow, Check me out cause I have a green light and 512MB of ram in my computer" people.)
I grew up with Amiga computers. Then a 'friend' of mine got me convinced to buy a Performa 6200 - yuck, that was a lousy deal !! But somehow I am stuck with Macs now, happily working on an iBook G4 today.
I guess my main reason for using a Mac today is because of my even worse experiences with Wintel PC's at work (regular crashes, etc..). Also, the lack of good software on the windows platform is appaling - seriously, the freeware/shareware market seems much more transparent /un-spyware-bloated in Mac OS X than in the Windows world. Although there might quantitatively be more software available..
I've been a Mac user for a long time, and the reason I bought my first Mac (a IIci) was that it was more powerful then the PCs you could get at the time. That's right young ones, back in the days Macs were more powerful then PCs, (and they only came in beige boxes). Back then Apple was not about looks and style at all -- it was about pure power and functionality.
The IIci I got cost $6700.00 and used a blindingly fast 25 MHz Motorola 68030 with a 68882 FPU. It was so much more powerful than the Apple IIgs I had been using I just loved that machine.
Over the years I've stuck with Macs because they almost always compared favorable to PCs and I have thousands of dollars invested in Mac software.
I started building PCs a few years ago when Motorola had trouble ramping up the PowerPC and Macs started falling behind in power. So far I've only been using the PCs for gaming, and I do all my work on the Mac.
My current Mac is an 800MHz Ti Powerbook -- it may not be quite as sexy as the G3 (wallstreet) it replaced, but you have to love the two-toned color, 15" screen, and the extra horsepower under the hood.
Truthfully, it is about time to upgrade again, and most likely I'll go with a Mac because I really prefer OSX to WindowsXP (although the cancelation of framemaker for the Mac may force me to switch over to the dark side).

Funny, 'Platinum', the color of the IIci, was new and stylish back then. Other computers were kludgy boxes resembly rounded air conditioners or space heaters.
In my opinion, Apple has never turned a blind eye to style. The rest of the industry has had to play catch up three times now.
First apple introduced textured beige to the computing. Next they popularized platinum. Most recently they bestowed jelly bean colors upon the world. All three have become major computing or consumer electronic trends. Now, they're re-popularizing brushed metal, giving the look new life by bringing it to desktop computers. We can expect G5'esque clock radios to start appearing at Wal-Mart any day now.
I have been using Apple Computers since my parent's got their llc. The one with a tiny monochromatic screen, with handles on top of the monitor and side of machine. Then the LC, I forget which one but that was the coolest thing I had ever seen, I must have been around eight. (born in '82) I have not even once considered going to the darkside.

Yep, same here, never have problems with my machines, my inlaws machines they still nag me to fix em every other week, spyware, virii, stupid brother in law f'ing machine up....
my wife keeps telling them to get a Mac. I keep saying I wont help them anymore, but wife nags me to as not to 'start a war'

I too used amigas, then I jumped ship when I noticed Commodore moved their headquarters to the Bahama's(felt that wasnt a good sign, and was right), I had a ton of amiga users as friends, and I was first to jump ship, right after they all did, all but one went pc, one went mac and disappeared
I did pc's for a while, got my first mac after my brother got the original imac, I got a grape one a few months later. since then, all mac. pc's suck
