Two different Java 1.4.2 for Panther?

Just wondering if anyone know the difference between the Java 1.4.2 for Panther released on 2 February 2004 and the Java 1.4.2 for Panther released on 17 May 2004?

I'm setting up a friend's computer and found that I couldn't install the version that I had downloaded earlier from February after I installed 10.3.4. I downloaded the May version and that installs fine.

On my machine though, I installed the February version first (in February) and then installed 10.3.4. Software Update did not show any newer versions of Java (ie the May version) to download.

The download size is almost the same, but is there a reason for a re-release in May? Why is there a change in system requirements?

February release requires 10.3.1 or later and Security Update 2003-10-28. May release requires 10.3.3 or later.

I can't remember where I saw this, but Apple basically said that the packages were identical; the only difference is that the structure of the later one is slightly rearranged to play nice to changes they will be making to the installer architecture.

It was a fairly cryptic comment.

Anyway ? there shouldn't be any noticeable difference.
