Advice for Apple
Here's an opportunity:
Call TIVO and partner with them right now!
Create a Tivo/Mac Media Center combo that bridges the gap between Computer Entertainment (Digital Music, Photos etc.) and Traditional Media (TV/DVD etc).
TIVO has a huge following of people who love the device (myself included) in the same way we love the Mac. Bring these two cults together...
Apple gets an easy transition into the living room without having to worry about competing with Tivo.
Tivo gets a real partner with the credibility in the digital world (iTunes/iPod) on both PC and Mac.
Have Apple build the PC/Mac connected stuff (iTunes for Tivo, plays protected AAC's, lets you watch on-demand music videos on your TV, shop the ITMS from your couch; view iPhoto slideshows etc.) and Tivo builds the TV-based portion.
Tivo already has a "Home Media" Option, but it's not nearly as well designed as their core PVR technology. Apple needs to expand the iTunes World into the living room (and vehicle, but that's another post) in order to keep things growing and stay ahead.
Listen up Apple, Steve...I'm right on this one. Go do it.

I like Tivo but I think they're about to hit the buzzsaw.
