I need some ideas for a school project, a presentation in class in a few days i don't even know what i'm doing.

Its a show and tell for big kids. So what they hell do i show and tell?

heres the project criteria:

-must do research, prepare notes, hand in bibliography

-must teach something, be informative

-interesting, original, ingaging

-well prepareed, organized

-well presented. must have prps, audio/visual aid.

-5 to ten minutes

i don't want to do my dog or something that would be stupid. i mean, its gonna be pretty funny. the teacher tried to gieve examples in class, she couldn't think anything up, she was like, bring in your favorite plant. . . . i was like, Ms. Murphy are you trying to get us arrested?

so any ideas . . ?

Pick any one thing you find interesting and work with that. Hell, I wrote a 9 page paper on how to make and enjoy coffee once because I chose something I liked. If you find something you like researching and presenting it will be easy. I like coffee so I told its history, explained different ways to prepare it, different ways to drink it, cultural significance of coffee, etc. I was given a few extra points because I chose a mundane topic and made it interesting. I was able to do that because I like coffee.

Find something you like (digital photography?) and dive in.

    Good Luck.

If you have a laptop with a Airport card, you could give a demonstration on wireless security (lack thereof) like I did. I captured and started decrypting my own wireless network packets in front of the class and wowed everyone by how easy it was.

It isn't so much what you do but how you do it. Sounds like the idea is just to give you experience in presenting information to an audience. So pick anything, so long as you're comfortable with it, and can get excited about it. Nothing makes for a good presentation like confidence and enthusiasm. Both are infectious. Just ask Steve.

Personal example: I've been learning a smattering of Korean lately, since my gf speaks fluently. Turns out that Korean is an incredibly cool language, with an alphabet designed by scholars only a few centuries ago to be beautifully phonetic and easy to learn. Yet, when written, the letters are arranged in groups so it looks just like impossible-to-decipher Chinese. So I might give a 5-minute Korean lesson mixed in with a 5-minute history of the language. Focusing on why I think it's so cool (all about the infectious enthusiasm).

Why not think about taking up a simple hobby like cracking the human genome, reversing the aging process, advanced missle telemetry, curing cancer, developing cold fusion, or explain the society and politics of an internet discussion board? *hint hint*

If you decide to do it on exploiting security vulnerabilities in ISO15693 or practical image processing algorithms for compressing DNA microarrays I can get you some good PDFs.

"Show and tell for big kids" -- is that the popular euphemism nowadays?

Is this anything like the "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" game for Big Kids? If so, I'm an expert!
