I ve got 2 firewire ext. harddrives, both have two firewire connections at their back,

is it possible that the two connected together via a firewire cable and then to my imac, to free up a firewire connection for the digicam??

Yep !! The firewire stuff can be daisy chained along, so just plug one hdd into the other and use the other firewire plug in your mac for the cam.

Ya you can do it, but why didn't you jsut try it yourself? It's not like it can hurt anything. Besides, you can learn more that way

The best part is that, unlike USB, you don't get big slow downs when daisy chaining with firewire.

I think firewire should become the next USB because its soo much faster and has more power supply and can pretty much run anything..

Unfortunately, USB 2.0 became the next USB. USB is just fine for mice, keyboards, printers, and maybe some low-res scanners. For anything else (off the top of my head), it sucks big green hairy [use your imagination here].
