VGA, DVI, ADC unplugging cables while computer is on
This may be a stupid question, but I guess that just reflects on the author
Long ago, while using standard VGA cables with my old computers, it was ok to unplug the cable from the computer while everything was still powered on. Is this still acceptable with DVI or ADC? I know that ADC draws the power from the video card, so I would think it would be a bad idea... Not sure about DVI though...
The reason I'm asking this is because I just purchased a PB12" and DVI to ADC adapter so I can hook it up to my 20" Cinema display that is currently hooked up to my G5. I don't want to damage anything, but it's a pain it the @$$ to turn everything off while switching machines...

ADC you can not. If you un plug it, than plug it back in, you won't get video back.
I do that without problems on my PowerBook.
