New rumored Apple displays = new Macs?
This has been touched in some threads, but I haven't seen it discussed specifically:
As far as I am aware the new ATI 9800 256MB Special Edition is the highest high-end graphics card available for the Mac today.
According to its specs sheet (at the bottom) it can do digital displays up to 1920x1200, it does not support Dual-Link DVI.
If Think Secret is correct about the new 30" display's resolution of 2560 x 1600, this requires a new, as of yet unannounced (and unavailable) graphics card.
Both have to be introduced at the same time.
ATI X800?
Would it still be an AGP version?
Would it make sense to go with PCI Express at this point?
If it is to be a PCI Express graphics card, it also means new Macs. A 'workstation-class' Mac?
