i was wondering whether or not i should buy a powerbook with 667mhz with 256mb extra memory and Aiport installed OR buy a standard powerbook 800 mhz with all that stuff already in? cost-performance is VERY important ("bang for the buck" as they say), so if i won't see significant differences between the two (like seconds of difference on high intensive apps don't mean THAT much too me... i use the standard premiere, after effects and bryce, but nothing much more beyond that). btw, i've currently on a P3 550 mhz, 128mb ram, ati rage 128card, sony vaio; how much of a difference in speed (to render stuff, for things to load etc) will i notice from the aforementioned powerbooks? sorry for all the number of questions, but this is my first time buying a mac, and it's a very expensive decision (but wise of course), so i need all the advice i can get from the most knowledgeable ppl on the net about macs. thx.

Well as I said in other post to you I think if you are going to spend the money go for the 800Mhz model! No you wont see big differences in seconds between the 667 and 800 model you will see a BIG difference between a new powerbook and a p3 550Mhz BIG TIME! I had a Powermac G4 400Mhz and I tell you I saw a BIG DIFFERENCE...

By the way! I dont know about all these posts but frankly it would be easy to go down town NYC and check out both models in the Soho store and decide for yourself. They will have plenty of various apps on it so you will be able to decide for yourself, and thats important that you decide and dont let all these post influence your final decision greatly!

    Cheers,

And I hope you get a computer to suit your needs I know I did with my purchase! <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />
