Setting up a wi-fi network with PC's and G4

I currently have a wireless 802b network setup with my Windows machines and just picked up a G4 laptop. Im pretty good with Windows PC's, but am not very Mac saavy yet. Could someone point me to a resource or expalin the process of setting up my G4 on my wi-fi router? Basically what Im looking for is a walkthrough. Most of the info I've found was to setup the G4 with an airport router but the router I have is an 802b.

Im sure it's pretty simple, but Im just not used to where everything is in the Mac OSx and the different terminology from Windows. I tried setting up the wifi with my built in airport (which says it supports B and G protocols). It seems to be able to see my network, but always asks for the network name and password. I dont have a password and am unsure of what the network name should be, it doesnt seem to be the SSID. Also the one thing that would be useful is if I could scan for a list of available networks.

Thanks in advance.
