G5 airport card not on at computer start-up

Could someone let me know if I am doing something wrong but ever since I updated the airport card driver in my G5 about 3 weeks ago, when the G5 starts-up now I have to manually connect to my airport. My other G4 also got the driver update but I have a linksys pci wireless network card in there and it runs fine the network has a connection when it starts-up.
