Virtual CD?

Are there any mac utilities that simulate the disc (cd or dvd) still being installed even though you ejected it? On windows there are lots of utilities for this, most commonly used to make an image of a game disk so you can take the cd out, I actually have a different use for it.

    Disk utility might be enough.

    I think disk utility knows the difference between a mounted disk image and a real DVD.

    Disk Utility has nothing to do with mounted DVDs or any other removeable storage. The job of recognizing the nature of a mounted volume lies with the application. The true nature of a mounted volume is an issue only with copy-protected applications.
