Tiger & https connection
Hi,
I know that Tiger is just a baby-tiger right now, but for one reason, it is a very crippled kitten. It is impossible to connect via https neither in Safari, nor in any other browser. It just says it cannot establish a secure connection. So goodbye all internet bank accounts. And goodbye all more secure logins.
Funny thing is, that in order to test .Mac syncing you have to register at Apple dev site, but you cannot do it from Tiger, as secure connection is needed for that.
Is just my Tiger a cripple, or is it a wider problem?
Or maybe there is some simple cure for that?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Apart from that bug, the kitten rocks

It's not a bug...Apple is dropping HTTPS support.
As of several years now Apple is sticking to everything that is labeled standard, even Word format in TextEdit So how come they piss on https? And if so, why and how they are going to let me conect to my bank account?

Apple will release iBank with Tiger so you won't ever need to connect to your bank via the web using HTTPS.

lets look at this from a different angle, the build number for the DEV PREVIEW is 8A162. This is hardly anything close to a fully functional OS. for you to honestly assume that a late alpha/early beta of safari has been purposefully crippled shows that you probably shouldn't be playing with it at all, as you are obviously not a developer. it even says clearly in the EULA that this is pre-release software and is not intended for a production environment. of course there will be bugs now that will be fixed later and features that even have yet to be added, from what ive seen, 90% of the 150 new features arent even there.

Now I guess they should have banned me rather than just shut off posting priviledges, because kickaha and Amorph definitely aren't going to like being called to task when they thought they had it all ignored *cough* *cough* I mean under control. Just a couple o' tools.
Don't worry, as soon as my work resetting my posts is done I'll disappear forever.

You're kidding. Right?
HTTPS not working may imply they are reworking its implementation and it's not quite there yet. Otherwise there's no need to omit a useful part of a framework.

The article is in French, but nothing incredible in it, don't worry!
Violating an EULA is a baaad idea. The primary mod of this forum used to be a pretty big spanker of people fishing for Developer copies of software/OSes and might have even been spanky-spanky about chatting about them...can't remember now.
