DVD burner

I am looking at buying an external dvd burner for my powerbook, does anyone know of a good brand? Also, could I possibly buy an enclosure and a internal dvd burner? Do basically all dvd burners work with mac? or only specific brands.... At this rate I might as well give up and do video stuff on the pc in our house. How sad

    I've always only heard good things about Pioneer. I think Apple uses some Sony too.

    I'm not a big fan of Sony but certainly the Pioneers are very good. You may be tempted to wait until they release their dual layer burner though, which is due out soon and given how Sony priced there's will be very close to regular burner prices.
