867MHz Dual only 133Mhz Bus...
ATI RADEON 9000 PRO in the Bigger ones ... :-)
Which is faster than Geforce 4MX ... and in some Benchmarks even faster than GeFORCE4 Ti ,....
I am Happy ... )))))))
Check out the Apple store now.

Yeah but Adobe is now admiting it: <a href="http://maccentral.macworld.com/news/0208/13.powermac.php" target="_blank">http://maccentral.macworld.com/news/0208/13.powermac.php</a>
"These new Power Macs run Adobe Photoshop faster than any PC we've seen," said Bruce Chizen, president and CEO of Adobe.
They should have replaced the Dells's Voodoo 3 with at least a GeForce 2 MX.

Since my thread about this got moved to 'current hardware' (while this one didn't) I'll post this here
I've scaned the many threads but so far I haven't seen this question addressed yet...
Given the following specs:
-------------------------------------------------------
o Dual 867MHz, 1GHz or 1.25GHz PowerPC G4 processors
o Velocity Engine vector processing unit
o Full 128-bit internal memory data paths
o Powerful floating-point unit supporting single-cycle, double-precision calculations
o Data stream prefetching operations supporting four simultaneous 32-bit data streams
o 256K on-chip L2 cache running at processor speed
o Up to 2MB DDR SRAM L3 cache per processor, with up to 4.6GBps throughput
o Up to 167MHz system bus supporting over 1.3GBps data throughput
o 256MB or 512MB of PC2100 or PC2700 DDR SDRAM main memory supporting up to 2.7GBps throughput
o Four DIMM slots supporting up to 2GB of DDR SDRAM using one of the following
-256MB DIMMs (64-bit-wide, 128-Mbit)
-512MB DIMMs (64-bit-wide, 256-Mbit)
-------------------------------------------------------
Are we still looking at a 'less than full' (don't wanna say hack) DDR? or has MOT gotten off their buts and done something good for us?
Looks to me like its still not 'full DDR' but I'd like to hear from others...
Dave
But you guys can keep em'.
Dual 1GHz for $2500 <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />
And they are as ugly as those leaks made out.
<strong>They're not on the UK store.

they are now!

Just ordered myself a new Dual 1 Ghz.
If you find that a high price , you haven't been with Apple for a long time.
Macintoshes used to be much much more expensive.
This is cheap and very powerful !!!
(and don't start comparing with dell etc.... I want a Mac , not a Dell)

The specs say: To harness all this power required the new system controller designed for Xserve as well as its L3 cache and DDR memory. They appear to mention Xserve, so I think the controller is the same. I presume that only bus speed grew from 133 to 167.

Actually I have been with Apple for 16 years or so (1986). When they were that expensive, they were also pretty much the best desktop computers that money can buy. I remember the $4500 9600. I don't want to get into a Mac vs. PC thing here. But they could have at least cut a better deal for the mid-model (they have halved the L3 cache apparently).
A lot of people were expecting a lot more than this. (And they are still butt ugly.)
[btw, I am disappointed, I think this is pretty much the worst case scenario that had been expected]

the looks? ...well
<strong>Do these new pm's have OS 9?</strong><hr></blockquote>
Yep. A quick look at the tech specs page notes that the new Powermacs boot into 10.2 Jaguar as well as 9.2 . Looks like ill be getting my dual GHZ G4, keeping it in 9 until ProTools 6 comes out this fall, then i finally make the *switch* to X.
