Hi Guys

What a great forum....

I have just purchased an old ibook (9.2 OS) for use with my digi camera as a file storage solution when away from home.

Once I return from trips I want to network my xp and ibook PC's

what would be the best way firewire or cross over cable???

Thanks

Steve

oh boy, i'm not very good at this stuff, but i'll try..

As for your setup, i think it's going to be pretty hard without extra software (Dave). 9.2 doesn't have very good, smb, ( does it even have it?)

In terms of speed, Firewire would be the fastest, and then cross over cable second.

One thing that you could try doing is starting up the Web sharing on your ibook, and set up a web page, go to Apple menu, control panel, web sharing. You could download pictures by placing them in your web folder on your mac, and downloading them through your intranet (crossover cable) on your PC.

The easiest way, and most useful way I think would be to get a inexpensive Compact flash or thumb drive to transfer files between the computers (make sure that what every you use is Win formatted) This way also you can put them on what ever you have, and bring them over to friends or family's houses really easy.
