Bush records "accidentally destroyed".

The destroyed records cover three months of a period in 1972 and 1973 when Mr. Bush's claims of service in Alabama are in question.

How convenient.

"Those are records we've all been interested in," said James Moore, author of a recent book, "Bush's War for Re-election," which takes a critical view of Mr. Bush's service record. "I think it's curious that the microfiche could resolve what days Mr. Bush worked and what days he was paid, and suddenly that is gone."

Anybody still think no one's trying to hide anything?

What's funny about this is not whether it's true or not but the reaction caused by Bush himself. The stonewalling about the initial release of records was/is enough to make this look nefarious. Bush's own drive to be a secretive controlling pres resulted in small flap, probably over nothing. People trust this guy less with each passing day and it's his own fault.

The Pentagon claims this. If they have got the Bush "military records" and they are damning, does anyone honestly believe that the Pentagon would release them? There's more chance of a fleet of flying saucers landing on the White House lawn than the Pentagon releasing any records which might vindicate those with anti Bush sentiments.

They say that they can't be found huh? I recall when I was in middle school bleating out a variety of excuses for procrastinating with my homework...like.,...we had a power outage.... or my younger sister spilled a quart of chocolate syrup on my essay book: did the teacher believe me? As if........

Imagine if John Kerry had a dodgy or controversial period in his military service, and the records were mysteriously destroyed or disappeared? The mainstream media and the right wing would be falling over themselves...there would be calls for public investigations, or for him to resign his candidacy, or if President, impeachment proceedings, etc etc.

Why can't Bush answer for anything in his past that is unsatisfactory...and there is a lot of it. It seems he is like a mafia boss ... a "teflon Don" president surrounded by layers of underlings who will take the can ... Unlike Truman, with Bush, "the buck stops anywhere but here".

Not to be confused with Hillary's White Water records that were missing for two years and materialized one Sunday morning on the breakfast table.

    Tit for tat?

How can anyone defend Bush deserting? Honestly? It's unpatriotic and un-American. And actually when I say that I'm not kidding. It is a serious offense and he should have gone to jail for it.

Are you suggesting that Bush's records will magically materialize at some point? Because, you know, the Whitewater records (and how many convictions were there directly related to WW, again?) did actually turn up. No one said "Oh, hey, guys? The records covering the exact months you want to look at were, um, 'destroyed' by accident."

It was a joke about conspiracy theories. It was not intended to mitigate actual actions of one admin against the other.

IT'S HARD TO BE A REPUBLICAN IN 2004

Somehow, you have to believe that:

    1. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary

    Clinton.

    2. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest

national priority is enforcing U. N. resolutions against Iraq.

    3. "Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their

    jobs to India.

    4. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but

multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without

    regulation.

    5. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a

conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for

    your recovery.

    6. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in

speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

    7. Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins unless you someday run for

governor of California as a Republican.

    8. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

    9. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then

    demand their cooperation and money.

    10. HMOs and insurance companies have the interest of the public at heart.

    11. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health

care to all Americans is socialism.

    12. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but

creationism should be taught in schools.

    13. It is okay that the Bush family has done $millions of business with the

    Bin Laden family.

    14. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

    15. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable

offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

    16. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution,

which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

    17. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George

Bush's Harken Oil stock trade are none of our business.

    18. You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft

can tell states what local voter initiatives they have a right to adopt.

    19. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but

what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

    20. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade

with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

    21. Affirmative Action is wrong but that it is ok for your Daddy and his

friends to get you into Yale, the Texas Air National Guard, Harvard Business

School, part ownership of Harken Oil, part ownership of the Texas Rangers, the Governorship of Texas and then have the Supreme Court appoint you President of the USA!

The one sick, appalling, glaring omission:

You authorize $100 million+ of public funds to be spent in a witch- hunt against a president because of his private personal relationships while reveling in the public pornography of Kenneth Starr.... and some petty small-change deals (Whitewater) in which nobody was even charged with an offense.....

But when the largest breach of national security involving the worst ever attack on American soil happens during your watch, at first you refuse time after time to conduct a public inquiry, then after unrelenting pressure from thousands of bereaved people resultung in some bad PR, you grudgingly give the go-ahead, but with Henry Kissinger (probably the most unsuitable person in the nation outside of the admin. to be given that responsibility) at the helm, which was somewhere between arrogance and a slap in the face for the families. Even HK had the sense to recuse himself from that one. Then you censor all the juicy bits in the links to the nation who was most complicit in the attacks..Saudi Arabia...and refuse to appear separately on camera, letting the surrogate shadow president Cheney answer all the pre-screened questions. What are you so desperate to keep secret from the American people and the world, Mr Bush and Mr. Cheney?
