Which router should I get?

I've looked and like these two.

Belkin

Or

Netgear

I'm leaning towards netgear because of the 166Mhz proc and higher ram. I couldn't find and detailed specs on belkins model. I just want a fast reliable router.

What do you guys recomend

Info:

Just going to be using to share files between computers, have a cable modem that I"m going to plug in also.

i'd say get one from draytek , their routers are fast, reliable and feature packed (vpn, print server, etc) . and drayteks mac support is great (< 24h email response time). i had some problems with my belkin dsl router so i gladly paid a little more.

I would lean away from the Netgear. I know in more than a few instances they have started freezing up requiring you reboot it. That's ok once a month or even once a week but it isn't uncommon for it to get into the several times a day count.

Some people will swear by Netgear and their performance is particularly good but I've found them to be particularly bad in terms of reliability, not only for my network but for my friends' as well.

back to you telomar. Which one would I need. DrayTek has like 6 different kinds of routers. I'd like some security I guess. I'll be taking this router with me when I go off to college. And do you know of any stores (best buy, staples, office max) that carries these.

Draytek isn't a bad choice with the 2104P otherwise Asante provides Apple. I've never had the chance to test one of their routers but the FR1004 always looked reasonable to me.

The last one I'd suggest is Linksys. They have a decent range of low end options, the BEFSR41 if you don't mind no firewall or the BEFSX41 if you wanted a firewall.

Thanks much. I think I'm going to lean towards Draytek. They look pretty good.

One more question. Where can I buy these. Do I have to call the them to get that info?

Whoops sorry I left that bit out. Most decent sized computer oriented stores will have routers. I have one just up the road from me that I visit. Whether they'll have Draytek ones is another matter. It may just be easiest to contact Draytek and find out who their distributors are in your area.

I just got a Netgear to replace my Asante, and I reboot it almost every morning. But I don't know if it is the problem, because I replaces my Asante for the same reason, though not as frequently.

WOW! The Draytech Vigor2600VGi router looks awesome. I could have so much fun with that. Too bad its like $400.

I may be a bit late? but I like Belkin... Netgears seem to have quite a bit of problems, at least for my friends. I got them to also switch to a belkin wireless router and they haven't had problems since. Though I like the aluminum look the netgear.

I don't know about the brands you asked about, but I recommend SMC which worked well for me. I also went through a D-Link router and two (!) replacements, which were broken, did not have features mentioned on the box, and had mostly incompetent customer service.
