Ok I need to transfer stuffit for mac to my powerbook 520c so I can unzip some files. Right now the its zipped up on my pc and I can't unzip it on the powerbook since there is no program yet, so how do I get the stuffit (unzipped) onto the powerbook via floppy disk? I tried before but all that shows up is a blank sheet of paper icon and I click on it to open but it pops up that window an asks what program to open it with??? For the floppy disk I'm using macdisk so its formatted for mac. The os is version 7.5, would it help if it use the internet through the powerbook and get the files downloaded through there? But I don't know how to connect to the interent, I don't think there is even an interent software it seems not to have a whole lot of software on it. Sorry to seem a bit nubish, I just got this powerbook yesterday and I only been on Mac os 9 and X a for about a year and been on windows for 6 years.

you are in a bit of a pickle. The internet is a good bet, then you could unzip the file on the pc and email it to yourself on the mac in uncompressed format. You should have an old copy of internet explorer on the powerbook... that was standard fare back then. I don't know if it has a built-in modem or not... but if it does then you just need to setup the internet preferences and you should be rolling.

If you can't get to the internet with the mac, then you might find some kind person who can send you an unstuffed or at least a self extracting archive of stuffit... it was free (I'm pretty sure) in the system 7.5 days.

I'll try somethings out see if it works thnx for the help, if anyone has anymore help it would be apprciated. As for interent I found Global village zterm is it a browser or something? Ok I got connected through it but requires login in which I don't know so I'll try to find an old browser I mght be able to get ont there.

Just looked at my old 7.5 disk and it did not have Stuffit on there. It did have MacLinkPlus, which we use to use back then when using pc files. So if your files are not zip'ed you might just try using MacLinkPlus which came on the system disk. Your best bet is to try to connect to it using an ethernet cable to transfer the file or program.

ZTerm is a terminal emulation program that was used for connecting to BBS's and downloading files. Browers pretty much made these obsolete except for connecting to routers and and some other devices thru a serial port.

I also watched the Quicktime movie of the 7.5 engineering team. Drugs must have been availible freely when they did it.

Lol, ok I got stuffit 4.1 on there and it works but I need to upgrade to 5.5 otherwise it won't unpack this one game that I want, so how do you upgrade to stuffit 5.5, I tried it going to 5.5 but its like it doesn't want to read it so do I just step up gradually like get 4.5 then the next one?
