Display Brightness

I'm running OS 10.3.4 and have a 17" Studio Display. For some reason I can't change the brightness of my screen. The option isn't even under the Display Preferences and when it was, the slider would always move back to the right whenever I tried to lower it. Is there any remedy to this?

    Try changing the brightness from your keyboard. F15 to raise and F14 to lower.
