Panther Server: Print Services with Epson USB Printer?

Anyone have any luck serving print services from OS X Server 10.3 with a USB printer?



I am trying to host print services for a simple Epson C84 USB inkjet printer to Macs on my LAN. The jobs never get printed. Poof into thin air. I am using Rendezvous.



Any ideas?

    does the printer work from the server itself?



    I had a problem under panther where using Printer Setup Utility to set-up a printer using Rendezvous the printer simply would not work. The workaround was to not install the printer using the setup utility. Instead open up a document to print, select the rendezvous printer from the printer drop-down selection box. OSX would then set up the printer and it would work. I still have no reason why this worked and using the setup utility would not.



    If the printer will not print from the server either, you may want to download the gimp-print 4.2.7 from http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3



    I also used an updated usb driver for printers from here

    It was a bit faster than panther's own.
