I wonder if Apple could use scansofts's speech engine in place of the one they use now. mac's speech engine feels a bit choppy when I use it. When I tried scansofts demo on their website, I was suprised how realistic the voice sounded. Give it a try here: http://scansoft.com/realspeak/demo/ They seem to have programed the engine so that it stresses words in just the right way to make it sound realistic, chinese is even better sounding. What do you guys think? I guess I might be in the minority in having my computer sound out the alerts, I do it so that it catches my attention instead of just blinking in the background, but Victoria just sounds so choppy compared to this person (Jennifer).
