I'm in the market for a new display in the next week or 2 and I am seriously considering the 22" Cinema Display. I thought about the 23", but can't justify the extra $1000. Any opinions or advice would be appreciated.

I'd been tempted by the 23" as well, but the extra $1000/inch, plus the longer wait at the time (22" was in stock, 23" had to be ordered) convinced me to go with the 22". I've been very pleased with it so far, and certainly find the amount of screen real estate more than adequate.
The 23" is very nice, of course, but the 22" may be easier on the eyes for some people because the pixels are larger. (1600x1024 @ 22" -> 86 ppi, 1920x1200 -> 98 ppi).
