Importing Images from Camera?

Are there any decent alternataives to importing instead of iPhoto? And also, how can I import movie clips from my digital camera? I dont think iPhoto can, and just briefly looking around iMovie, I didn't see any options either.

I have a Canon SD100, btw.

Image capture can transfer images and movies to a specific folder to your hard drive. However, it does not handle RAW files last time I tried.

Your camera should have come with the software that you want. I use iPhoto so I did not need what Canon provided. My 10D came with:

    File Viewer Utility

    ImageBrowser

    PhotoStitch

    RemoteCapture and

    Adobe Photoshop Elements.

iMovie will import your movies from your camera.

Fantastic! Other than using a flash card PCMCIA caddy or some USB solution I didn't know how we'd get those movies off our new Canon S500. I'll try iMovie now.

The question is, why didn't I think of that?!

The camera also shows up as a disk image on your desktop. You can navigate to the folder where the movie and image files are stored using finder and copy the files over like you normally do from a disk drive.

Did iMovie work with your camera?
