Can I backup my HD onto my iPod? HoW?

I just received my 40gb 4g iPod and I was wondering if I could backup my HD onto the iPod.

    Enable iPod to be seen on the desktop as another hard-drive. You can do that from iTunes. Then you just drag anything you wish to backup to the iPod icon on the desktop.
