G5 crashes unless I choose 256 colors

My G5 crashes ALWAYS if I move windows in the Finder, except when the monitor is set to 256 colors. I assume the problem is related to the NVIDIA Geoforce 5200 graphics card or am I wrong?

    Try an Archive and Install to rule out software first, then assume hardware.

    We re-installed Panther 10.3.4 and all the updates through the internet.

    After moving some windows in the finder, there can be some distortion of the screen, we hear some disk activity and then the computer freezes.

    We can still move the mouse but the computer doesn't react anymore.

    Does sound like hardware - get it back to Apple or the Reseller you bought it from for a warranty repair or call them and get them onsite if they offer that service.
