I have a question. I use Safari and while my niece is here visiting she is going to want to use my computer. I have some bookmarks on safari that I would rather she not see (nothing horrible but they are chick sites).

is there anyway to keep safari bookmarks private? Such as when she is using the computer she doesnt have access to them? I can see no way to do this.

The only way I can imagine is adding a user to your machine and logging out whenever you're done using the machine.

I thought of that, but would that change safari? Does it infer individual control over each app and browser?

It has for me when I've shared my system. I believe all of the preferences for a user are in your home folder, so they're held completely separately.

    ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist

That's where your bookmarks are located (and the ~/ represents the specific user).

Ok, thanks. maybe Ill create a user called 'Guest'. I was really trying to avoid having to sign in to my computer though. Oh well

Fast user switching & an account without a password. You could switch into the new account when you're done. A little annoying, I know, but everyone needs their own porn, not just your porn.

It would be better to give your niece an account in her name. It is much more personal and she will be less likely to roam.

    I'm using Panther.

If you click on "Accounts" there's a "+" and a "-" in the lower left corner. The "+" adds a user and the "-" cuts one out. Easy as pie!
