Hello Everyone,

Interesting thing happen today on my dual 1.25 g4.

Pushed the power button to turn it on and it.............................wouldn't turn on.

light would pop on then fade off.

no ring or anything.

Tried holding button for 10-20 seconds, no luck.

Tried a couple of different outlets to see if that was it.

No luck.

Any ideas on what it might be?

Thanks in Advance,

Paul

If you are daring enough, you could open up your G4 and open the case where the button gizemo stuff is. If I remember correctly there should be a small button in there and if you take a paper clip and press the button and it starts then you have a flawty start button. If it still doesn't start call apple. If I am wrong on something please correct me.

It sounds like either a bad power switch assembly itself, a bad power supply, or (if you're lucky) a corrupted Power Management Unit or PMU.

The PMU is reset via a tiny button on your logic board.

if you try this, make sure to follow instructions EXACTLY. If it's a hardware failure, I hope you're still under warranty.
