Final Cut Express - Canvas and Timeline will not appear

Looks like I have a problem. I was using the Canvas and the Timeline on my LCD the last time I closed them. Now when I open my movie, I cannot get them to appear (They won't show up in the LCD or the PowerBook). I have tried unhooking the monitor and it will still not show up. Not really sure what I need to do here so any help would be appreciated as I need to get access again to the timeline and the canvas to finish a wedding montage I am doing for my wife and myself.
