"Invisible" font / Quark issue driving me insane, suggestions?
A client has a G5 tower running Panther (10.3.5).
Yesterday, while working in Quark 6, she noticed any words in a certain font (minion, specifically the expert subset) were no longer showing up in her quark docs.)
I had her local support guy take a look and he mentioned the fonts were showing up a generic UNIX icons in the finder. I had him do a repair permissions and disk check, but the result was the same.
I came down and just removed the bad font group, cleared the font caches, and reinstalled it using font book. The weird thing is the the minion expert ones are still invisible to Quark. - and font book shows the expert ones as only fraction characters in the preview windows (1/4, 1/8 etc. no letters or other numbers).
Even stranger - textedit, Photoshop, etc. CAN use the minion expert fonts normally. In Quark, you can type the characters, but they're "invisible". If I copy the selected invisible text, and paste it into another app, they show up.
(Perhaps they are substituting for a corrupted font automatically, but I don't think textedit has this functionality (?))
I got the font from the same location she origionally installed it from a few months ago on their file server. (It looked corrupted on the server (generic UNIX icons - think someone copied it up there on a winbox and killed the resource forks). But there was a stuffit archive of the font that appeared intact - she says that's where she got it initially..
I'm at a loss... any ideas?
