emptying trash problem

I am using os10.3.5 and downloaded what I think is a corrupted version of Windows Media Player. I tried to empy it into the trash and dump it but I get a message stating that.........html is in use and can't be done.

Is there any easy way of emptying the trash?



With the old os9 you could just put in the startup disk and do it--
