LanOSD uses

I've found this neat utility -- LanOSD -- and I'm attempting to think of useful/nifty ways to utilize it. Basically, it's a daemon that you can communicate with via AppleScript or a provided CLI program and it will pop up one of those translucent fading bezels with whatever text you want (and an icon). I'm completely ignoring the "Lan" part, since that's of no use to me at the moment.

Now, what I'm looking for are some ideas of how to utilize it. So far, I've written an AppleScript that's run by a Mail.app rule on every incoming mail (I don't get that much mail), which pops up a notification containing the subject, sender, and mailbox it ended up in.

But that's about all I can think of doing. What sort of things would this be insanely useful for, that I'm not thinking of?
