Dumb mail question

Regarding Apple's mail program when I open the program, the mailbox that has the list of items such as new, junk, sent etc. is on the left side of the page. On my wife's computer it's on the right side. How do you switch the preference from one side to the other. A dumb question I know, but I couldn't seem to find the answer myself.

    Easy. Open mail, click the Mailboxes icon to close the side panel. Move your mail window to the right or left. Click on the Mailboxes icon again. Your sliding panel will open on the side that has room. It will stay on that side till you move the main mail window to far to the other side (with the panel closed), then the panel will open on the other side.
